This project will improve operations at the intersection of 179th Avenue SE / 147th Street SE, and will involve the installation of a traffic signal and pedestrian crossings. The project will also incorporate widening to accommodate truck traffic, a dedicated left turn lane on the north, south, and west approaches, pavement markings, and removal of the existing mid-block ADA ramp to the south of the intersection.
The City of Monroe received notice on October 29, 2020 that the it would receive $665,000 in Federal Funding for this project through the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC). This funding is part of the Regional Transportation Improvement Program. The remaining project expenses will be paid using local funds.

This project was awarded to Colacurcio Brothers on October 24, 2024. This project began construction on September 4, 2025. The pavement and sidewalk portion of this project will be completed by mid November. However, the proposed signal will not be operational until the end of February 2026 due to delays in the manufacturing of the poles. This intersection will temporarily operate with stop signs until the signal is installed.
