Overview

Provide a forum for the coordination of information among entities identified as having economic development roles; recommending priorities and establishing a means to monitor progress on goals; and providing such other advice and guidance with furthering Monroe’s economic development strategy. Established through City of Monroe Resolution No. 019/2018.

EDAB Draft Recommendations 

Membership Criteria

The Economic Development Advisory Board (EDAB) will consist of seven members. Board membership will strive to include a balance of business type, location, and size. Terms will not exceed four years.

Qualifications.  Appointed members will be residents of the City or business persons managing operations and/or property in Monroe. Experience and/or expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

  • General retail
  • Light industry / Manufacturing
  • Medical/Professional services
  • Commercial leasing
  • Tourism/Recreation
  • Marketing
  • Lodging

Location.  The appointed members of the board may represent North Kelsey, Industrial/Commercial zones, Downtown, and US 2 corridor.

Size.  Ideally board members will include both large and small businesses with representatives from local, regional, and national companies.

Ex Officio Members.  The board may also include representatives from the Monroe Chamber, Downtown Monroe Association, Monroe School District, Everett Community College, Hospital District and not-for-profit partners as ex-officio (non-voting) members.
