The Monroe Police Department accepts concealed pistol license (CPL) applications, including applications for original, replacement, renewal, and late renewal CPLs.  Applicants must be Monroe City residents, at least 21 years of age, and a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Applications for concealed pistol licenses must be submitted to the police department of the city or county in which you reside.  You may have a Monroe zip code (e.g. 98272) but reside outside city limits. Types of CPLS:

Original CPL Applications: In addition to completing the application, you will need to be fingerprinted.  Fingerprinting is by appointment only on Thursdays between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., with the last appointment occurring at 3:45 p.m.  Please call 360-794-6300 or email to set up an appointment.

CPL Renewals: You may not apply until 90 days prior to the expiration date shown on your current CPL card.  Renewals do not require fingerprints, but a completed application, copy of current photo identification, and payment are required.

CPL Late Renewals: Applications will be accepted up to 90 days after the expiration date shown on the current CPL card.  Late renewal fees will apply.  If you are past 90 days from the expiration date, you will have to complete an original CPL application.

Lost/Stolen/Destroyed CPLs: If you are a City of Monroe or an out-of-state resident and your Washington State CPL is lost, stolen, or destroyed, you may apply for a Replacement CPL from the Monroe Police Department regardless of where your CPL was originally issued.

Armed Forces Renewal (Out-of-State Deployment): Deployed members of the Armed Forces, including the National Guard and Armed Forces Reserves, who are deployed out-of-state, may renew their concealed pistol license by mail.  This renewal will only be valid for a period of one year. Applications will need to be submitted with a copy of your deployment orders designating the period of deployment, a copy of a valid government issued ID, and a check payable to the City of Monroe for the applicable fees. The law also allows members of the Armed Forces to renew their license within 90 days of the expiration if they were deployed but have since returned to Washington state.  A copy of the original deployment order is still required, but the late renewal fee will be waived.
