In the coming weeks, Monroe households will receive their Nov. 5 General Election ballots which will include Proposition 1: Monroe’s Levy Lid Lift for Community Services. Proposition 1 proposes an increase of 22 cents ($0.22) per $1,000 of assessed value (AV) which would establish the City’s property tax levy rate at $1.08/$1,000 AV. If approved by Monroe voters, homeowners, on average, would pay an additional $10.84 per month on property taxes that would support parks maintenance and public safety services. Eligible low-income seniors, disabled veterans, and other people with disabilities would be exempt from paying the increased levy rate.
In addition to the ballots, please look for an informational postcard from the City of Monroe. To learn more about Proposition 1, please visit MonroeWA.gov/Proposition1. Contact us at 360-794-7400 or cityclerk@monroewa.gov should you have specific questions about Proposition 1.
